With 2.9 billion monthly active users, Facebook is a great place to advertise to get your book out into the world. Make sure your Facebook ads are leading to more sales with these tips to creating successful Facebook ads.
1. A Strong Primary Text
Your primary text in Ingram iD is what most consider the caption on a Facebook post. This will be the first text users see when they see your ad. Make sure to add the most pertinent information, like an enticing synopsis of your book or reviews. Try to remain concise, as longer is not always better.
💡Pro tip: Best practice recommends a 125-character limit for Primary Text.
Facebook users spend a very limited amount of time viewing each ad they come across, so adding a call to action, such as Buy Now, and including emojis to further entice viewers will help catch their attention quickly.
2. Eye-catching Imagery
Make sure the image you use is not distracting from the book’s title. If you have a great ad image that captures the essence of your book, you can upload it to use in your Facebook ad. If not, you can use the book’s cover which is automatically available through Ingram iD when you enter your ISBN during step one of the campaign set up.
💡 Pro tip: You can also change the background color and the shape of the window in Ingram iD to make your book cover pop. We recommend using the tall, vertical image to take up more space on the page in Facebook.
3. A Good URL
Facebook users want to be able to navigate to the action you want them to take in as few clicks as possible. Make sure your URL is directing users to a page where they can buy your book, instead of having to click multiple times to get there. A good example of this would be your book’s page on a retailer site such as Amazon, Bookshop.org, your Share & Sell page if you are an Ingram Spark author, or an author website where you have your titles available to purchase.
4. Headline and Description
The Headline and Description is displayed under your image, beside your call-to-action button. A good use of this space is to restate the title of your book, or let the user know where they will redirect to when they click on your ad. For example, your Headline could be the title, and the Description could be “Order Your Copy on Bookshop”.
Facebook ads are a great way to increase exposure for your brand and your book. When using Ingram iD, you can be confident that your book is getting in front of thousands of readers looking for a book just like yours. Follow these tips to ensure that you are putting your best foot forward on Facebook and maximizing your chances of earning sales.
